A Non Governmental Organisation, Tinam’s Voice, has tasked communities in the South of Kaduna on the need to chart a new course for peace and development of the zone.

Deborah Yusuf, founder of Tinam’s Voice, made the call in Kafanchan at a solution driven dialogue the NGO convened on issues affecting Southern Kaduna.

The Convener of the meeting, Deborah Yusuf lamented that Southern Kaduna was fast becoming synonymous with killings and insecurity generally.

“The first thing that comes to mind in any conversation that concerns Southern Kaduna is killing, insecurity and what not.

“It is time for us to chart a new course for our future. We are own saviour. No one will come and save us if we don’t save ourselves,” she added

She noted that the injustice and marginalisation suffered by the people of the zone ought not to discourage them but strengthen their resolve to progress as a people.

Yusuf said though attempts had been made in the past to address the issues affecting the zone, the people must not grow weary but insist on holding conversations until lasting solution is found.

According to her, Southern Kaduna is blessed with enough human and material resources to grow and develop itself.

In a keynote address, Pastor Gideon Mutum of the Governor’s Assembly, Kafanchan, challenged the people of Southern Kaduna to take their destiny into their hands.

Mutum noted that the first step towards tackling any challenge is the acknowledgement of the existence of that challenge.

The News Icon reports that during the meeting stakeholders including students, youths and community leaders highlighted some of the issues affecting the zone including insecurity, economy, education and politics and the way forward.
