Concerned stakeholders of Piriga Chiefdom, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have made a passionate appealed to the Governor, Malam Uba Sani to review the unfair case of their dethroned paramount ruler, the Chief of Piriga, His Royal Highness, Mr Jonathan Parguwa Zamuna with the view to restore him on the throne.
Addressing newsmen Monday through the Yeriman Piriga, Mr Bulus Marebe, the group said the regrettable decision taken by the immediate past Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai did not follow due process as the paramount ruler was not given a query, warning nor given fair hearing to defend himself on the alleged offence brought forward against Chief Zamuna.
Speaking further, the Yeriman Piriga said Governor Uba Sani known to have come into politics with a civil rights activist background, should temper the injustice meted against the dethroned paramount ruler with justice.
“lt is a well known fact that Governor Uba Sani joined other progressive democrats and stood firm in the fight to enthrone the hard earned democracy that all are enjoying now, having sustained some bruises during the struggle to restore the June 12, 1993 mandate won by the late MKO Abiola.
“It is in like manner that we are making a passionate appeal for him to revisit the case by giving the dethroned Chief the benefit of hearing his own side on what exactly transpired that led to the unfair harsh decision taken by former Governor Nasir el-Rufai”, he explained further.
The Yeriman Piriga then assured the Governor that the peoples of Piriga Chiefdom remained committed in support of his policies and the SUSTAIN agenda towards a developed and better Kaduna.
It would be recalled that Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai announced the dethroning of the Chief of Piriga in his last days in office on 22nd May, 2023 owing to an alleged clash by some members of the Chiefdom.
