The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna, Monday, dismissed the petition brought by the Labour Party (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency, Hon. Augustine Danbaba Umar seeking to invalidate the election of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. David Umaru Gurara.
Gurara was returned elected in the House of Representatives election conducted on February 25th, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Not satisfied with the outcome of the election, Augustine Danbaba Umar filed a petition at the tribunal seeking to invalidate Gurara’s victory.
Delivering judgment in the matter, Monday, Justice Chudi Nwankwor who was a member of a three-man panel that heard the petition, dismissed the case and awarded N500,000.
Fielding questions from newsmen, counsel to the respondent Sam Aung SAN, said the petition filed by the Labour Party House of Reps Candidate was dismissed by the Tribunal for lack of merit.
” The judgment was passed in our favor and a fine of N500,000 was also awarded against the petitioner.
She further noted that all the prayers brought by the petitioners seeking to invalidate the election of Hon. David Gurara were also dismissed.
