A grassroot Non-profit Organisation, Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE), has engaged in Nigeria covid and climate resilience programme  aimed at empowering women and mitigate climate change by planting trees at LEA Primary School, Tsaunin Kura-Sabon Tasha G.R.A, Chikun Council, Kaduna State
At the one-day symposium and tree planting exercise on Tuesday, the Executive Director of WISE, Mrs Olanike Olugboji-Daramola, said the engagement was on seeking partnership to ensure the sustainability of the exercise and the female students will play a key role.
Also speaking, Business Development Manager for Atmosphere, Climate and Sustainability, Mr Lawal Musa, said the exercise is part of his social corporate responsibility aimed to inspire Eco-conscious for leaders of tomorrow.
In his remarks, the Head Teacher, LGEA Primary Tsaunin Kura, Sabo GRA, Comrade Cyrus Hassan, lauded the initiative of the organization pointing out that the exercise is one that will be of long-time benefit to the school and the host community.
According to the organizers, the symposium, supported by Atmosphere, and Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA), will significantly contribute to addressing climate change issues as an intervention which in the long run, adding that it will help to reduce deforestation, promote afforestation, and empower women.
