Mrs Oghogho Musa, President, Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA) Maternity Ward in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.

Musa said , “The official inauguration of Vickie Irabor Maternity Center is part of increasing facilities of NDA hospital.
“This ceremony marks a significant milestone in DEPOWA’s contributions to healthcare delivery to the society.”

According to her, the maternity centre was the foresight of the immediate past President of association, Mrs Vickie Irabor.

She said that the feat symbolized the attention and priority DEPOWA places on the healthcare and well-being of mothers and newborns in our community.

Musa said, ” An unwavering commitment and dedication towards providing the best possible care to expectant mothers and also ensuring safe and healthy deliveries for all.

“The inauguration of this maternity center is not just a symbolic gesture; it is a tangible demonstration of our collective commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes.

” It represents a significant step forward in our efforts to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to all mothers and newborns who walk through our doors.

” This is in tandem with my vision for DEPOWA which is to see Women and Girls become productive and contributors to family and society, driven by a deep sense of values and a hard –working spirit.

”My vision has also enjoyed the support of DEPOWA National Executives towards the pursuit of its’ actualization.”

Musa said her husband remained devoted to the welfare of the personnel and their families.

She also appreciated the Commandant, NDA Maj-Gen. John Ochai, for his tireless efforts in making the event a reality.

Earlier the Coordinator Nigerian Defence Academy Officers Wives Association (NDAOWA), Mrs Ruth Ochai, said the inauguration symbolized their unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of women.

She said that the centre would help to reduce the scourge of infant and maternal mortality.

Ochai was represented by the Assistant Coordinator, Mrs Ngozi Aneke .

She said, ”The day marks a significant moment in our journey towards enhancing the healthcare infrastructure within the NDA Ribadu Cantonment.
“This maternity ward stands as a testament to the collective efforts of all those involved in its planning, construction, and realization.

“From the visionary leaders, both past and present, who recognized the need for such a facility.

”To the dedicated healthcare professionals who will work tirelessly within its walls, each and every one of you has played a vital role in bringing this project to fruition.

“Most importantly, this maternity ward is a reflection of the values we hold dear: compassion, empathy, and solidarity.’

Also the immediate past President of DEPOWA, pledged that they would continue to assist their husbands to fill the gap and that the maternity ward was accessible to all women. (NAN)
