The only female Local Government Sole Administrator in Kaduna State, Mrs Nita George, has extolled Gov. Uba Sani’s and President Bola Tinubu’s achievements in one year of their administrations.
George, who chairs Jaba LGA, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna.
She said that the past one year of democracy under Sani in the state, has been a blessing upon all the ethnic groups in the state.
According to her, they have all been captured in his ‘SUSTAIN Agenda’, which he has been implementing seamlessly.
George listed the rudiments of the agenda to include safety and security, upgrade of infrastructure, strengthening institutions, trade and investment, agriculture, investment in human capital and nurturing citizen engagement.
According to her, Sani has already left landmarks of great achievements around all the areas.
George said, “On safety and security, in addition to collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders in the security sector, Sani on Tuesday distributed 150 vehicles, 500 motorcycles and other security gadgets to ensure a safe and peaceful state.
“This came after he worked tirelessly with Tinubu, NSA, the Chief of Defence Staff and other security agencies to ensure the safe return of our kidnapped school children months ago.
”Also on upgrade of infrastructure, it is evident in the opening of rural roads to link urban areas as a build up to the urban renewal of the immediate past administration.”
The sole administrator said that action meant improving access to markets for the farmers, hence bolstering socio-economic activities in the several communities the roads would pass through.
In the area of trade and investment, sGeorge stated that the administration of Sani has made business easy with relevant policies on the ease of doing business in the state.
According to her, this is with the sole intention of increasing the progressive business environment and scaling up the internally generated revenue drive and incentives for tax payers.
”Agriculture as the second contributor of Kaduna State’s GDP, with over 70 per cent of Kaduna people involved, has gotten an unprecedented attention, with all the LGAs keying into it and offering unwavering support.
“Both the crop growers and animal breeders are feeling the action of Sani in terms of the agricultural value chain.
”Communities that lost hugely in the ginger blight disease are being supported at different levels to cushion the effect of these losses, among others,”she said.
George said that investment in human capital is key in the agenda, explaining, ”it is because other interventions are to be driven by humans, hence his determination to give everyone a sense of belonging.
“For example, one of the first decisions Sani made upon assumption to office was to slash the state’s higher institutions fees by 50 per cent.
”Recently, he directed the state-owned higher institutions to allow all their students to sit for examinations whether they had paid their school fees or not.
“Gov. Sani has just paid gratuities and pensions of deserving residents to the tune of N3 billion. That will also improve the beneficiaries’ economy and reduce poverty and vulnerability.
.”He strives to ensure that the leadership of the local governments improve on community engagements as a way of keeping the citizens aware of the highs and lows of government
“He is also well abreast of the global accountability platform called Open Government Partnership in which the state is a subscriber,”she added.
Speaking on their part at the LG level, George said they have keyed into the SUSTAIN agenda.
She added that in addition to the infrastructural development happening across the 23 LGs in the state, every LG was investing in health, education and vocational training.
This, George said, was being done sequel to the directives of the governor to empower the citizens to withstand the current economic situation in the country.
“In Jaba LG, we have trained over 100 young persons in different skills. What we need now is to have these young persons see themselves as potential Dangotes and Otedolas.
The LG administrator pledged the loyalty of the people of Jaba LG to the innovative leadership of Sani, adding, ”God is using him to change the atmosphere in the state.
”He is transforming it into a true testament of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
George also called on the residents of the state and the opposition political parties to join the moving train.
“We will all have our time, and the sky is very wide enough to accommodate every gift or talent so that we can collectively move Kaduna State forward,”she said.(NAN)
