A group under the auspices of Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement For Peace Unity Empowerment and Development Initiative, has congratulated the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on occasion of his 62nd birthday.

The National President of the group, Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, the Sarkin Yakin Kanya Babba, in a statement issued to newsmen on September 28, marking Badaru’s 62 birthday, prayed to Almighty Allah to continue to strengthen him as he work towards the transforming Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence, to compete favourably with other world defence ministries.

Awwal, gave a brief of Badaru’s biography, educational, life, and career achievements which included and not limited to;

Born on 29 September 1962, Badaru was elected Governor of Jigawa State in April 2015 under the ruling party, All Progressives Congress Party.

Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar was born in Babura town, headquarters of Local Government Area of Jigawa State. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Accountancy from the Ahmadu Bello University.

He also attended the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos awarded with mni.

He served as an Auditor with the Audit Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in old Kano State in 1987 and resigned from public service in 1991 to establish his own business outfit.

The business were; Talamiz Company which was later incorporated as Talamiz Nigeria Limited, and later gave birth to subsidiaries such as Talamiz Motors,
Talamiz Consumer Company, Talamiz Transport, Talamiz Commodities, Talamiz Properties, Talamiz Poultry & Farms, and Talamiz Petroleum.

He is also the Chairman of Talamiz Oil Mill Limited, Socar Talamiz Limited, RMR shipping BV, AML Bonded Terminal, ALUAFRIC Cairo and a Director of Sahih Nigeria Limited.

Badaru is also a member of many business bodies and affiliates too numerous to mention.

He was once the Chairman on the Consensus of The Northern Chambers of Commerce.

This is a Union of all Chambers of Commerce Organizations in the North. He came along with his business experience and exposure for cross fertilization with other bodies.

Badaru was conferred with the traditional titles of Sardauna Ringim and Walin Jahun in Jigawa State.

He ran unsuccessfully for election on 26 April 2011 But lost to Sule Lamido who polled 676,307 votes, coming runner-up of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) with 343,177 votes.

In 2015 he contested Governorship of Jigawa State under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and won election.

On 9 March 2019 gubernatorial election, Badaru was re-elected as Governor for a second term, having polled a total of 810,933 votes while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim scored 288,356.

Social Democratic Party’s, candidate, Bashir Adamu Jumbo scored 32,894 votes.

Presently, Badaru is the Minister of Defense Federal Republic of Nigeria under the Government of President Bola Tinubu GCFR.

As Badaru clocks 62, his time as Governor of jigawa state is fondly remembered for the good leadership he has provided and transformational strides that has taken place in Jigawa State despite the economic downturn.

It is pleasing to acknowledge that since he assumed his present position, as the Honourable Minister of Defence, he has demonstrated uncommon dedication and commitment to the services of Nigeria and to Jigawa State.
