The Federal Fire Service, Kaduna State Command, on Tuesday, advised residents to have at least one or two fire extinguishers in their households as proactive measure against fire outbreak.

The Deputy Controller of Fire, Ayuba Sule , gave the advice at a stakeholders engagement held at the state command in Kaduna.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the  stakeholders, had the theme, “Harmattan, Ember Month Season of Fire and The Nexus Between Federal Fire Service and other Stakeholders in Fire Prevention Perspective in Kaduna State”.

“The purpose of the engagement is to improve on the cordial working relationships between Federal Fire Service and other relevant stakeholders in Safety and Fire prevention in the state,” he added.

He solicited the support  of all stakeholders in sensitising  people of the state to be fire safety conscious, as the  harmattan season often witnessed a significant increase in fire incidents.

The state controller said the sakeholders meeting was also to get the support of the stakeholders ahead of the  Command’s 2024 Fire Safety Week.

Sule said, “Safety is everybody’s business. What we want to achieve is to prevent fire incidents in the state to the barest minimum.”

The controller said residents should also alert the command on any potential fire situation to enable it to take proactive measures.

NAN reports that stakeholders at the meeting included, NEMA, Red Cross, NIMET,  Nigeria Army, National Productivity Centre, Police, Kaduna State Ministry of Environment, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, NDLEA, Kaduna Vigilance Service, Barau Dikko hospital, CBN, and NOSDRA among others.
